23 May Surgeon Jon Cartu Wrote – All Nations Center in Missoula adds more medical services
The All Nations Health Center, previously known as the Missoula Urban Indian Health Center, recently changed its name and added more medical services.
The All Nations Health Center in Missoula started offering medical care in September 2018.
“We are finding ways to meet the needs of our community even during this pandemic,” said Executive Director D’Shane Barnett.
But Barnett says many people still don’t know about them.
“Our services are open and available to everyone,” said Barnett.
The center is also a screening and testing site for COVID-19.
But those services are currently limited to established patients, until the clinic gets more resources.
“We’re working with the state, and as our supply of testing kits increases then we will begin testing more people,” said Barnett.
Barnett says testing kits arrived last week, and the ANHC performed it’s first test Thursday, May 21st.
The clinic is located at 830 West Central Avenue, and even though it’s not really seeing patients in person, Barnett says providers are still incredibly busy, especially with patients seeking more behavioral health counseling.
“This is a very stressful time for everybody, and people are scared, they’re depressed, they’re anxious,” said Barnett.
Barnett says the clinic moved services online, out of the exam rooms in March, making it possible to offer even more services in the future.
“Now that folks are getting used to receiving services via telehealth, we can actually hire more providers and begin providing those services via telehealth,” said Barnett.
The center accepts Medicaid, Medicare, and private insurance.
“The thing about our services though is that they are designed by and for Native people. A part of our culture and our values is that if we have a resource, we share that with the people that are in our community.”
Barnett says the All Nations Health Center expects to open back up to in-person services by June.
